The Journey

The Tickled Pink One started it's journey around the UK in early October, and assuming it makes it all the way, it will hopefully arrive in Nelson, Lancashire in time for it to be auctioned on the 13th of February 2013.

You don't have to be invited to the wedding where the auction is taking place - you can make a bid via email instead Here.

The guitar is destined to be passed from one guitarist to another until it has made it around the country, raising money for Breast Cancer Care at every stage.

We see it as a Pink Ribbon of Hope, though we may be getting a little poetic about the whole thing, who knows?

The idea to send The Tickled Pink One around the UK came from Julian Longhurst who may or may not have been a little touched

by the Olympic Torch flying around the country in the Summer of 2012.

The wet one, yes.

Via the MusicRadar Forums, a number of willing chaps who were happy to not only take delivery, do something with the guitar and then make sure that it reached the next-in-line, were identified and young Julian came up with a cunning plan to ensure it went like clockwork.

Here is a clever Google map that he constructed, so that you can see exactly where the guitar will go/should have gone/got lost. You'll notice there is no route marked as it is a seat-of-the-baggy-pants approach that is determining the idea's success and organising guitarists is like herding cats, so it is probably better this way.

There is every likelihood that the guitar will disappear under a bed in Cleethorpes and not be seen again for a couple of decades, but we're willing to take the chance.

As we receive fotos and news from each guitarist, we’ll update it on the main page of this web site. So keep coming back…
